Evan Mathis

Although he’s arguably one of the best guards in the NFL, Evan Mathis has been on the trading block for basically two years now. There have been reports saying that Mathis is unhappy with his contract situation, which is understandable. He’s been one of the best offensive linemen in the entire league since he’s signed with Philadelphia.

But you also have to factor in that he’s 33 years old, had a major injury last season and guards can be found pretty easily compared to other positions. It doesn’t make sense to invest a ton of money in such a replaceable position.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a big fan of Mathis as a player and a person. At the same time, it’s easy to understand how the two sides have come to a disagreement and may ultimately part ways. The Eagles could possibly get a day three pick for Mathis during the draft.
