Anthony DiBona’s Prediction:

Byron Jones, Cornerback, Connecticut

The Philadelphia Eagles and head coach Chip Kelly have been all over Connecticut cornerback Byron Jones during the pre-draft process. They were in attendence at UConn’s pro day, brought Jones to Philadelphia for a pre-draft visit and then went back to UConn to work him out privately as well. It’s clear the Eagles are looking for a certain mold for players in their secondary and Jones meets all the requirements. At 6’1″, 199 lbs. with his athleticism, Jones is a rare specimen that would fit in perfecly on the Eagles’ defense. He also has experience at safety which just adds another tool to his repertoire. Many believe Jones is just a “workout warrior” that emerged on to the scene after his combine performance but he was a great cornerback at UConn, especially in press man coverage, and has the potential to be an elite cornerback in the NFL.
