The Philadelphia Eagles desperately needed depth at the Guard position and looked to veteran John Moffitt who had been out of football for two years. Moffitt was dealing with inner demons when he left football two years ago, but has since cleaned up his life and made a run at pursuing football again.
Unfortunately for Moffitt, he failed to impress and down right looked bad during the preseason. There was just too much rust for Moffitt to overcome. Some had high expectations for Moffitt, even going as far as to say that he would win the starting right guard spot. Moffitt never came close.
Maybe football isn’t the answer for Moffitt, but you have to give him credit for straightening out his life. Personal health comes before football and Moffitt has succeed in doing that. John’s story is a good one but it won’t be continued with the Philadelphia Eagles.
