A year ago, this game would’ve been a shootout. In 2015, however, both Philly and Atlanta are boasting improved defenses. The Bird Gang’s secondary has been revamped, and the Falcons finally have some semblance of a pass rush with new head coach Dan Quinn at the helm. But will it be enough for Atlanta to pull of a victory on Monday night? Not quite.

What the Falcons lack is a dependable running game. Devonta Freeman and rookie Tevin Coleman have shown promise, but they have work to do if they really want to lighten Matt Ryan’s workload. Atlanta’s O-line hasn’t helped, even with top draft pick Jake Matthews in the fold. Look for the Eagles to pressure Ryan early and often, with Philly’s suddenly ball hawk-loaded secondary returning at least one of about 40 passes for six. As for his counterpart, Sam Bradford, the Eagles QB will build on his stellar preseason play with the help of a loaded backfield that will slowly wear down the Falcons D.

Final Score Prediction: Eagles 31, Falcons 20

Game MVP: DeMarco Murray – 20 carries, 110 yards, 1 TD
