Malcolm Jenkins, Safety

That above average safety I mentioned in the last slide has turned into an absolute monster this season. Malcolm Jenkins has become the leader off and on the field for the Philadelphia Eagles. The team signed Jenkins last off season to a modest contract and it has payed off. After an up and down season last year, Jenkins has really played well for the Eagles leading the team in tackles with 37 and has 2 forced fumbles.

Like Thurmond, Malcolm has a background in corner so he’s able to play in the slot and center field. This allows the Philadelphia Eagles to stay in their base defense and stop the run. Jenkins and Thurmond are both ranked in the top five graded safeties of the season according to Pro Football Focus, the only duo on the same team to be in the top five. The Eagles are getting stellar play out of their safeties. If this continues, don’t be surprised to see Jenkins and Thurmond both make the pro bowl.
