The Eagles are easily trending down right now. Each week they have looked more lost than the previous one. Is this a team that is convincing anyone that they will make a run at the post-season? Maybe only to the most die-hard of fans. If I were to shake my magic eight ball though it would spit back “all signs point to No.”

Thanks eight ball.

Philly has lost too much, but how long is that excuse going to hold water? Reality is the Eagles are running an offense with Mark Sanchez at the helm, coupled with inconsistent playmakers, and a defense that, since the loss of Jordan Hicks, has seemingly thrown in the towel on the season. The Eagles have no shot at stealing a Wild Card spot. Period. Which means their only shot is to win their division.

Not all hope is lost though.

The Eagles are only one game out of first in a division that is just as inconsistent as they are. That’s not saying much, but that does mean there is a chance. At some point this team has to turn things around, right? Chip Kelly had Sanchez playing out of his mind a year ago. OK, maybe not “out of his mind,” but he was at least serviceable. And that is all the team really needs. Just look at the Texans. It’s the surrounding talent that has to step it up. If the receivers could contribute, then this team could start scoring more than 10 points again. More importantly, this team has to starting playing for each other. Forget playing for Chip Kelly, these guys need to want to win for each other. That’s what is the scariest thing about the Eagles right now. That, and they don’t know who they are.

With the Redskins dropping the Giants down a peg, things have leveled out in Philly’s favor. But that means that the Eagles can no longer [expletive deleted] around. The other teams I listed haven’t exactly made things easy for Philly. Again, it’s the division or nothing. Week 13 is a make-or-break game for the Eagles’ season. Unfortunately, it’s against the Patriots. Fortunately to that unfortunateness (not a real word), the Eagles couldn’t ask for a better time to face the Patriots; they are as injured as it gets. Beating the Patriots is the confidence booster this team needs to get right. The Eagles need to make a stand and move forward. And that starts in Week 13 against the Patriots.
