7) Corey Simon, DT Florida State (6th overall in ’00)

Simon came out of the gate strong, tallying 9.5 sacks in his first year — an impressive number for a veteran defensive tackle, much less a rookie — and finish with a total of 32 in his five season with the Eagles. During the team’s run at four consecutive conference championship games, he and linemate Hugh Douglas regularly wreaked havoc in opponents’ backfields.

Simon left as a free agent after the Birds’ Super Bowl loss to the Patriots and only played in another 17 games after that.
