4. Keeping Brent Celek

This is what I like to call a “big picture” move.

Much like what I said about Sam Bradford, keeping Celek provides the much needed roster continuity that Chip Kelly never offered. The fans get to keep one of their favorite players and the team has a clear veteran presence in the locker room. That last bit is more integral to the team than anything else. A team needs to have someone to keep the young guys in line and be someone to look to when things get rough. Celek has been with this team through a lot of changes, and has weathered all types of storms. Celek has the type of grit the offense needs.

I know he is not performing at high-level anymore, but that’s why Zach Ertz needs to continue to step-up. Here’s to another few years of seeing Celek pop-up and call the first down.
