  • Look, the Eagles are going to have to draft a quarterback no matter what. The roster currently only has two available, and neither one of them are definitively the answer. Now, I’m not going to try and sell you on the idea that Cardale Jones

    is

the answer, but he’s definitely worth taking the time to develop him into a polished player.

Let me stress this again; drafting Jones would not be a move to make him the instant starter. The guy hasn’t even thrown 300 passes in his career. Which brings me back to what I was saying above. He needs work. He is a developmental player. The thought of it barely even exists anymore. Jones hasn’t shown enough to handed the keys to an offense just yet, but he has shown enough for a team to take interest. To grow him behind a quarterback that doesn’t have a long contract. Someone like, let’s say, Sam Bradford.

It’s hard not to look at Jones and fall in love with his size and strength. He has all the tools to be a good quarterback, he just needs some time to learn how to fully utilize him. Outside of Carson Wentz and Jared Goff, the QB pool is rather shallow. There is a huge gap from Paxton Lynch to Jones, and Jones can likely be snagged with a third round pick. Luckily, the Eagles have two of them.
