Running Back

  1. Ryan Mathews
  2. Darren Sproles
  3. Wendell Smallwood
  4. Kenjon Barner

The Eagles went into the draft with a glaring need at running back. Drafting Wendell Smallwood in the fifth round helps, but the Eagles still do not have an every down back. Ryan Mathews, albeit talented, has an extensive injury history and is prone to fumbling the ball. Darren Sproles is an electric playmaker, but he’s pushing 33 years old and his production is limited. Wendell Smallwood is likely be nothing more than a depth player and Kenjon Barner is primarily a special teams weapon. The Eagles still have a hole at running back, but that was a sacrifice the Eagles had to make to ensure that they’d be able to select Carson Wentz.
