How the Philadelphia Eagles Shaped the Future of the NFC East
The Redskins are the only other team in the division that seems to be planning accordingly. That’s not to say Dallas or New York didn’t do anything to secure their future, but they seemed to approach this year’s draft with a more of an immediate stance.

Before all of the draft hullabaloo (a term I have only used twice), Washington made sure to keep Kirk Cousins in-house for at least one more year. And kudos to them. Cousins hasn’t exactly been the most consistent QB, until last year, so franchising him puts him into a “prove it” year. Cousins biggest flaw might not exactly have gone away; his poise. In previous years Cousins would crumble faster than a cookie in milk when the game got away from him. In 2015, he seemed to do a much better job of staying focused and finishing a game, but who’s to say those problems won’t resurface? Cousins may have played better knowing all of the media heat was still focused on RGIII.
With all that Cousins talk said, the Redskins made sure to keep their team balanced and have “Captain Kirk” primed for success. Josh Doctson was arguably the best rookie in this year’s class, and the team’s next three defensive picks give the Redskins the depth they sorely needed, and makes them one of the more balanced teams in the NFC. That sounds funny doesn’t it?
