5 bold predictions for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2016

2. Marcus Smith Will Have His Best Season To Date
Marcus Smith could have two sacks this season, and some Eagles fans would classify that a breakout year. It’s been an extremely underwhelming start for Smith, being drafted in the first round three years ago Smith’s stat line reads five tackles and one and a half sacks.
Smith was drafted into a bad situation, and it didn’t help that Chip Kelly took him in the first round, higher than where he should have been drafted to start with. The move back to defensive end for Smith will help, as it was clear he was never going to cut it at linebacker in the pros.
Look for Smith to take on Curry’s old role as a third down rusher. He may be used more than that, but the idea of keeping Smith fresh and letting him lose on third down is extremely appetizing. Don’t expect a ten sack season, but look for the much maligned first round pick to make strides in year three.
