1. The Eagles Will Finally Find A Starting Cornerback In Jalen Mills

From all reports, seventh rounder Jalen Mills could be the steal of the draft heading into training camp. Due to injury and off-field indiscretions, Mills tumbled down draft boards. Once touted as a second round pick, the Eagles selected Mills with the 233rdpick in this year’s draft.

Maybe it’s the fact the Eagles haven’t had a good cornerback in, well, forever, or maybe the hype surrounding this defense has everybody excited. Still, watching tape on Mills makes it obvious why people like him. He’s long, rangy, quick and instinctive, and plays at a position the Eagles have struggled at for years. It’s easy to get excited and see why people are excited.

He’ll have to fight for a starting spot, but given the lack of talent at the cornerback position, Mills is well within the mix looking towards week one. Schwartz has said he was impressed throughout minicamp and OTA’s, stating Mills is ‘comfortable on an island’. That was backed by Jordan Matthews saying ‘he gets in your face and is a physical guy, certainly doesn’t back down’.

Who knows? Mills could be the missing piece of the defense, and with the other defensive units looking strong, if he can become a legit starting cornerback, the sky is the limit.
