5 things about the Eagles in 2015 to look back on fondly
2. Week 13: Darren Sproles goes the distance
It was against the New England Patriots that frustrations came to a boil. The Eagles had long stopped playing for their coach, and on a Sunday afternoon in Foxborough, they played for each other. The result was a demonstration of how good this team could have been and a glimpse of what we thought we’d see all year. Make no mistake. This game wasn’t a fluke. The Eagles beat the Patriots and did it in all three phases of the game: on offense, on defense and on special teams.
During the third quarter, Darren Sproles helped give the team some cushion by fielding a punt and going the distance. You can argue that punt returns and kick returns for touchdowns are the most exciting plays in football. It’s always an adrenaline rush, but when it’s done while the game hangs in the balance, it’s an otherworldly feeling. His play would have been the greatest of the season if not for the play that tops our list.
