1. Valuable Experience

If the Eagles truly are in a ‘rebuilding’ phase as many suggest, is it worth starting veterans Nolan Carroll and Leodis McKelvin over Rowe and Mills?

Obviously, a lot will play out in training camp, and pre-season play is still a month away, but if the Eagles are building for the future, wouldn’t it make sense to start the two guys that are potentially going to be apart of that over two veterans? Maybe the theory is to just go with the guys that make you better this year.

McKelvin has the experience, and Carroll was the Eagles best cover corner last season. If this isn’t necessarily a season the Eagles are pushing for the playoffs, why not let Rowe and Mills play as much football as they can and give them the best opportunity to grow as players?

Last season this would have been harder to do, due to the way Chip Kelly wore his defensive unit out week in week out. In a year where the defense probably won’t be on the field as often, this would be a perfect opportunity to find out just how talented these two young corners are.
