Jalen Mills Pedigree/Relationship With LSU Products

Since the start of the Super Bowl era in 1966 there have been a total of 20 defensive backs drafted from the LSU Tigers, including Patrick Peterson and Tyrann Mathieu of the Arizona Cardinals.

Mathieu has served as a mentor to Mills, and isn’t far from having a chance at becoming the league’s highest paid safety. The similarities between Mathieu and Mills are plentiful including the fact that both slipped down draft boards due to off-field indiscretions, both are versatile defensive backs with the ability to play both safety and cornerback and both were drafted with a chip on their shoulder.

Mills had this to say about his mentor Mathieu “He kind of accepted me as his little brother. Along the way even as far as now. He’s helped me with anything that I might need. Answered questions, whether it is on the field or off the field. He’s just helped me become the best player I can be.” Having Mathieu to lean back on for advice can only be a good thing for Mills in his rookie year.
