Malcolm Jenkins – Safety

Malcolm Jenkins is the perfect example of making the most of a new opportunity. Before coming to the Eagles in 2014, Jenkins had a cumulative Pro Football Focus grade of -23.8 which, you guessed it, isn’t very good. Now entering his 3rd season with the Eagles, Jenkins has turned his career around.

In 2015, Jenkins ranked 2nd overall at the safety position on PFF  with a grade of 89.8, second to only the Vikings Harrison Smith, and one spot higher than Earl Thomas of the Seattle Seahawks. The best statistic of them all is that his cumulative grade has risen to +27.7, which was part of the reason Jenkins came in 54th overall in PFF Top 101 players for 2016.

Jenkins is an elite safety in the NFL, he may not be a household name like Thomas, Kam Chancellor or Eric Berry, but the Pro Bowler is a leader. Brian Dawkins led the Eagles secondary for a decade and a half. They may have, finally, found someone to fill his shoes.
