Philadelphia Eagles projected 2016 preseason two-deep depth chart
By Ryan Quigley
Cornerback
- Leodis McKelvin
- Nolan Carroll
Leodis McKelvin is essentially a lock as one of the Eagles’ starting cornerbacks. Like Nigel Bradham, McKelvin played under Jim Schwartz in 2014 for the Buffalo Bills and had a career year that season with 48 tackles and 4 interceptions before an injury disrupted his campaign.
Who will start opposite McKelvin is unknown, but Nolan Carroll may not be a bad option. Carroll was having a terrific year in 2015 before going down with a season-ending injury in Week 11 against the Detroit Lions. Before the injury, Carroll had recorded 57 tackles, 10 pass deflections and 2 interceptions in only 11 games.
Also in the running to start opposite McKelvin is second-year pro Eric Rowe. Rowe was solid as a rookie and even showed spurts of star potential. However, Rowe hasn’t received any reps with the first team defense this offseason, meaning he may be falling out of favor in Philadelphia. NJ.com’s Eliot Shorr-Parks even thinks rookie Jalen Mills has a better shot to make an impact for the Eagles than Rowe.
If his prediction is true, Rowe’s days in Philadelphia may be numbered.
