Left Tackle

  1. Jason Peters
  2. Matt Tobin

This is no contest. Jason Peters is far and away the Eagles’ best offensive lineman. However, that may not be the case for much longer.

Peters is 34 years old and he’s beginning to slow down significantly. It was clear that Peters lost a step last season and it would be unreasonable to think that will not continue in his 13th NFL season. Peters suffered a back injury last season that is degenerative, meaning that it will only worsen over time. Peters’ durability is a cause for concern, but when he’s on the field, he’s a key player on the Eagles’ offense.

Behind Peters will be Matt Tobin, who played in all 16 games with the Eagles last season at right guard. The Eagles signed Tobin to a two-year contract extension earlier this offseason, signaling his importance to the team’s offensive line depth. Tobin isn’t the most reliable lineman, but he could be a good fit as a reserve behind Peters at left tackle.
