Predicting the Philadelphia Eagles’ statistical leaders for 2016
By Ryan Quigley
Interceptions: Nolan Carroll
Carroll was quietly one of the Eagles’ best defensive players last season before breaking his ankle against the Detroit Lions in Week 11. I was curious to see how Carroll would look this preseason after his recovery and, by the look of it, he recovered just fine. In the three games Carroll played this preseason, he intercepted two passes and returned one of them for a touchdown.
The Eagles’ current group of cornerbacks isn’t the most inspiring, which is why I believe Carroll will lead the Eagles in interceptions. While Leodis McKelvin was a solid pickup for the Eagles, he is inconsistent in coverage and isn’t known for being much of a ballhawk. At the same time, neither is Carroll, but he’s shown some serious ballhawking skills this summer and I can see him carrying that into the regular season.
Prediction: 63 tackles, 4 INTs, 14 pass deflections
