5 offseason suggestions for Philadelphia Eagles
Draft like you hold all the cards!
In 2016, the Eagles traded their 2017 first round pick, along with other picks, to the Cleveland Browns which enabled them to acquire franchise QB Carson Wentz. For the 2017 draft, the Eagles were without a first until they traded QB Sam Bradford to the Minnesota Vikings for their No. 15 (or No. 14, depending on the coin toss at the combine) first-round draft pick. As always, the Eagles will look to strengthen their roster on both sides of the football, so they must get it right!
The Eagles motto for the draft is “Best Player Available”, no matter the position. In past years, the Eagles appeared to not have followed that motto. Hopefully this year they will. We don’t need any more Nelson Agholor draft picks, we need instant impact players!
Many of the early mock drafts have the Eagles selecting one of the top cornerbacks in the draft with their first pick. These include Florida CB Teez Tabor, Washington CB Sidney Jones or Alabama CB Marlon Humphrey. Other mocks have the Eagles picking one of the top two wideouts, Western Michigan’s Corey Davis or Clemson’s Mike Williams. Any of these picks appear to be an instant upgrade to the Roster.
At 15, or 14, the Eagles will be in a perfect spot to land top talent. Should the Eagles sign a corner in free agency, I feel they will opt to draft one in the second round with the deep class of corners. We all know the Eagles want to surround Wentz with playmakers, so my prediction is the Eagles will go offense with their first pick, selecting Western Michigan’s WR Corey Davis.
No matter the pick, the Eagles must get it RIGHT!
