9. Philly goes for two.

One week prior to the win in Lincoln Financial Field over the New York Giants, there was a game that doesn’t get talked about much. The Eagles took a trip to M&T Bank Stadium to face the Baltimore Ravens. Philly had been on the losing end of four straight contests, but in the waning moments of the fourth quarter, something most Eagles fans probably didn’t expect was actually coming into focus.

They actually had a shot at winning this game.

With their playoff lives on life support, Wentz willed his team down the field in the closing moments. Then, he took matters into his own hands with just seconds left. He scrambled into the end zone, giving Philly the opportunity to tie the game with a field goal, but Coach Pederson, as he had done quite often, bucked the system and went for the win with a two-point conversion.

It didn’t work and the Eagles lost the game by one point, but that isn’t the point.

The point was Wentz played like a veteran, and he led his team to 12 fourth quarter points. He grew up right before our eyes, and with the game on the line, he delivered. No one cared that they went for two and didn’t convert. All anyone cared about was the fact that this was further evidence that the Eagles did the right thing with the second pick. They had found their franchise quarterback, but Mr. Wentz wasn’t done.
