Defense

Defensive End: Reggie White, Trent Cole

Defensive Tackle: Jerome Brown, Fletcher Cox

Linebacker: Chuck BednarikJeremiah Trotter, Seth Joyner

Cornerback: Troy Vincent, Eric Allen

Safety: Brian Dawkins, Andre Waters

Reasons Why

That defense looks good doesn’t it? Believe it or not, there were still some tough calls. Defensive end and safety was pretty easy though. Come on. Can you really improve on any of the choices? Think about it. We’ll wait.

Defensive tackle was a position where the imagination could really run wild. Jerome Brown and Fletcher Cox!? Those two can rush the passer, stop the run and give the defensive line some swagger. The thought those two wreaking havoc on opposing offensive lines just brings a smile to your face, doesn’t it?

Linebacker was more of a struggle. We went with a base set, as opposed to the nickel, and in the end, the three guys we selected were some of the best ever. The only word you need to describe Seth Joyner is “BALLER”. He did it all: He made tackles, recorded sacks, pulled in interceptions and forced fumbles. You name it. He did it. Add Trotter and Bednarik as the sledgehammers and that’s one heck of a linebacker unit.

As a side note, if we went with three corners, the third would be Asante Samuel. This might cause a bit of controversy, but the dude was a ball hawk. 23 interceptions in 4 seasons isn’t bad. The Eagles could definitely use some of that type of playmaking ability right now.
