Weakness:

  • Inexperience/Limited Game Film
  • Fumbles

Weber’s biggest knock is his lack of experience, which is not something he could really control. After sitting a year behind Zeke Elliott, Weber finally received his chance to be the top dog and took full advantage. But when compared with the top running backs in the country, Weber lacks the game experience of Saquon Barkley, Nick Chubb, or Royce Freeman. Even with a stellar freshman year, Weber still barely cracked the 1,000 yard mark in an offense that produced a total of 3,188 rushing yards in 2016.

Weber also needs to improve on his blocking technique, as he appears inconsistent in that phase of his game. He shows good potential as a lead blocker on jet sweeps and quarterback keepers, but needs to improve as a pass blocker. Though Weber has soft hands, and shows the potential as a pass catcher, he definitely needs to improve on his 3.9 yards per reception as a Sophomore. Weber also didn’t record a receiving touchdowns in 2016, and will need to show he can be a trusted receiver in the red zone area to become a complete running back.

Weber also experienced some slight fumbling issues, putting the ball on the ground three times, losing the football once. Weber has focused on cleaning up his ball handling, and should put forth a better effort to protect the football. If he can show on tape that he can be trusted with the football, Weber should put to rest any concerns about him putting the ball on the ground.
