Philadelphia Eagles: 5 Fantasy options that could help win your league
1. Alshon Jeffrey
Since Jeffrey signed with the Eagles, fans have been hoping the Eagles are able to replicate what other fanbases have found in quarterback-wide receiver duos. Connections like Matt Ryan to Julio Jones, Andy Dalton to A.J. Green, and Jameis Winston to Mike Evans come to mind.
A young quarterback’s best friend is a good running game. A young quarterback’s second-best friend is a stud wide receiver. Dalton and Winston came into the league and were spoiled by having great wide receivers at their disposal. That’s led to some early success stories. In the two seasons that Jeffrey played 16 games, he accumulated 174 receptions, 2,554 yards, and 17 touchdowns. The downside is that, in the last two seasons, Jeffery’s only played in 21 of the 32 games the Chicago Bears played in.
The production’s been there anyway. In just 12 games, Jeffrey recorded 52 receptions, 821 yards and two touchdowns. Don’t forget, the Bears struggled mightily at quarterback. They went from Jay Cutler to shuffling in Brian Hoyer and Matt Barkley. The stability that Wentz will provide, along with the irrefutable talent the Eagles have added, offers the potential for the Wentz to Jeffery connection to be one of the best. Moving into the NFC East shouldn’t be a problem for Jeffrey either. In three games against NFC East teams in 2016, Jeffrey recorded 15 receptions for 258 yards, including a 5-catch 96-yard performance against the Dallas Cowboys.
If Wentz makes the jump many anticipate and the offensive line flourishes, Jeffrey will thrive. Currently, Jeffrey’s ADP is WR12. Although the price tag is high, Jeffrey could prove fruitful as the Eagles best red-zone option.
