Three out of five NFL executives who were polled all agree that they’d rather have Carson Wentz over Dak Prescott and Jared Goff.

The Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Rams all share a couple of similarities. All three franchises sit at 2-1 after the first three weeks of the 2017 NFL season. All three selected a quarterback in the 2016 NFL Draft. We can all now say, with confidence, that Jared Goff (Rams), Dak Prescott (Cowboys) and Carson Wentz (you know where he plays) are among the best signal callers in the league.

Who cares if it’s their second season?

Goff didn’t get off to the same impressive start as his counterparts, but he’s stepped up in year two. Now, some may say that’s due to the fact that he needed an offensive minded head coach. That’s up for debate, but the facts are the facts. Following a head coaching change on the west coast, things seem to have turned around.

The debate:

It’s been mentioned on several occasions that the Eagles would have taken Wentz even if they had the first selection in the 2016 NFL Draft. Most Eagles fans share that sentiment, but what do the experts say?

Recently, NFL.com‘s Daniel Jeremiah spoke to five NFL personnel executives, and he got them to weigh in on who they thought a leg up.

Here’s what they all had to say:

Executive one:

"I’d go with Dak Prescott. I love his toughness, leadership and ability to make plays off platform. He’s a great player right now and he’s only going to improve."

Executive two:

"I’d rank them like this: Dak, Wentz and then Goff. Dak is the best thrower, runner and leader. Actually, I’d say Wentz and Dak have the same leadership qualities. Goff is playing well, but I think he’s still a distant third to these two guys."

Executive three:

"I love Wentz. He has the best combination of football smarts, arm talent and athleticism."

Executive four:

"Wentz would be my guy. Goff has the most arm talent but I’d still rank him third in this group. Dak is the best leader but he does benefit from playing behind that offensive line and he has the most skill talent around him. Wentz has the best combination of arm talent and leadership."

Executive five:

"I really like all three of those guys (Goff, Wentz and Prescott) but I’d give the slight nod to Wentz."

If you’re keeping score, that’s a 3-2 edge for Wentz over Prescott. That also leaves Goff as being the odd man out. Honestly, that just corroborates what most of us already knew.
