Eagles report card: Carson Wentz’s quarter-season progress report
Field generalship: A- (93%)
What Wentz lacks in mechanics, he more than makes up for in everything else. Tell the truth. You acknowledge his inexperience. You understand there will be growing pains, but have you ever felt uncomfortable with trotting him out on the field? That hasn’t happened has it?
Wentz is quickly becoming an extension of his coaches on the field of play. His coaches trust him. Opposing coaches acknowledge his gifts. The experts are falling in love with him. That’s if they weren’t in love with him already.
Wentz, in year two, is one of the leaders of this team. His teammates all seem to love him. Veterans, like receivers Alshon Jeffery and Torrey Smith eschew opportunities to play somewhere else for an opportunity to play with him. Keep in mind the fact that this team was 7-9 last season.
Wentz is a born leader. People want to be around him. It’s easy to see that, and if he’s that capable of being successful with people off of the field then the on-field results will come. It’s only a matter of time.
