Philadelphia Eagles DE Chris Long to donate remainder of 2017 salary
Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Chris Long continues to make a difference.
Every fan of the Philadelphia Eagles has one more reason to be proud of being a fan of this great franchise. One of their veteran leaders, defensive end Chris Long continues to do his part to make life better for people around him. He’s already made the dreams come true of two students in his hometown of Charlottesville, Virginia. He donated his first six game checks to provide them with scholarships to further their education. Now he’s taking things a step further.
He’ll be taking his next ten checks to launch the Pledge 10 for Tomorrow Campaign. The initiative of this new foundation is to make people aware of the importance of making donations to improve equality in education.

Long and his wife have selected four organizations from the three communities he played in during his NFL career. That includes Saint Louis, Missouri, the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the Foxborough, Massachusetts area. There are two main goals of these organizations. One is to make education easily accessible to youth who haven’t been able to enjoy its’ benefits. The other is to provide students the support they need to help them develop the traits that will give them strong social and emotional character.
As a special added bonus, the city that raises the most money during the season will be given an additional $50,000 donation. Long spoke to the Associated Press recently about this new venture.

Here’s what he had to say:
"My wife and I have been passionate about education being a gateway for upward mobility and equality. I think we can all agree that equity in education can help affect change that we all want to see in this country…There’s a lot of opportunities to help out, and they’re wonderful organizations. We have such a great platform as football players, and hopefully fans get behind it."
This comes on the heels of the violent and unfortunate events that took place in Long’s hometown back in August. The NFL vet still continues to believe in his city. “Our hometown is a wonderful place, and I feel like people got the wrong idea about what the residents of Charlottesville are all about”.

Long’s efforts have gone a long way in changing any negative perception his city may have garnered in that time. We at Inside The Iggles tip our hats in respect to those efforts and the man who has spearheaded them. Again, it makes you proud to be an Eagles fan.
