Rookie of the Year – Cornerback Rasul Douglas

There were really four nominees for this one with Douglas, Derek BarnettMack Hollins, and Jake Elliott. Douglas became the clear-cut choice here and for good reason. He hasn’t played like a rookie by any means. Instead, he’s looked like a six-year vet out on the field.

Douglas was selected in the third round of this year’s draft by the Eagles. Coming into the season, he was expected to be someone to provide depth and possibly be developed for the future. Instead, the Eagles may have found themselves a starting cornerback.

Due to injuries to Ronald Darby and Jaylen Watkins, Douglas was forced into action. The moment’s never been too big for the rookie as he displayed his tackling and ball-hawking abilities. Douglas has racked up two interceptions and seven pass deflections so far this season. With Darby and possibly Sidney Jones returning from injury, it will be interesting to see how the cornerback situation shakes out.
