Philadelphia Eagles roundup: A reacquisition, updates on Sidney Jones
The Philadelphia Eagles continue to make strides to ensure the future of their secondary is secure.
Here are two names you’re, no doubt, familiar with if you’re a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles. They belong to two of the newest members of this great organization, cornerbacks Ronald Darby and Sidney Jones. Here’s a name you may not be as familiar with but have probably seen floating around from time to time. That name is Tre Sullivan.
We’ll start with Sullivan. He had been turning heads and doing all that he could to land a spot on the Eagles 53-man active roster. Then, an injury in the team’s final preseason game ushered him towards football limbo, better known as the injured reserve list. Philly would eventually offer him an injury settlement and waive him. Now, it appears the young man may be getting a second chance at life in the NFL.
He’s been re-signed to the team’s practice squad.
What about those guys that everybody’s been licking their chops to see?

Then, there’s the cornerback position. Once viewed as one of the weakest units on the entire Eagles roster, Philly made immediate strides with a trade that brought Ronald Darby to town. Immediately seen as the team’s best cover guy, Darby had an interception and return in his first preseason game with the team that set his new city on fire.
Then he was inured in the Eagles first regular season game in a non-contact injury, and he hasn’t been seen in a regular season game since. You already know what’s been going on with Sidney Jones. He was the Eagles second-round draft selection in 2017, but he was taken for his potential, not his ability to perform immediately.
Where are Jones and Darby in terms of their rehab?
Fear not Eagles fans. You may be getting your wish. Well, parts of it anyway. Darby may be back for week eleven. There have been rumors of his participation in both weeks eight and nine, but it now appears, barring a setback, he’ll return in week 11.
Take a look.
Jones is another story. There’s been debate as to whether or not the highly-touted rookie may be healthy enough for a late-season appearance. Due to a recent rule change, the Eagles now have all season to make a decision. Before that change, the rule stated Philly had six weeks from week seven to determine whether he’d return to practice or be shut down for the year.

So what does all of this mean?
To make long stories short, expect to see Sullivan have a chance to battle for a roster spot next season as Philly’s safeties are aging. Expect to see Darby on the field when the Eagles take on the hated Dallas Cowboys. As far as Jones goes, we’ll all have to be patient and wait to see what happens together.
