Playing quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles isn’t just a job for Carson Wentz. He’s falling in love with the city, fans and teammates he’s playing for.

We all have jobs, but some are just cooler than others. Well, at least that’s the case when you look from the outside. We’ve all had dreams of playing in the starting quarterback role in the NFL, but unfortunately, only 32 people in the world are allowed to have that job at a time. Carson Wentz holds that title for the Philadelphia Eagles, and it appears he’ll hold that title for a while.

What’s really cool about that is Wentz isn’t just punching in and trying to earn a game check. He’s truly in love with his job, teammates and coaches, but that isn’t all. It appears the kid from North Dakota is adjusting to the big city of Philadelphia quite nicely.

Carson Wentz is the perfect quarterback for the Eagles, and Philly is the perfect city for Wentz.

Those of us who have ever held a position at any company can testify to the fact that it’s always easier to go to work when you love where you work, who you work with and what you do. Apparently for the Eagles signal caller, it’s easy to relate. The hardworking, blue-collar work ethic of the citizens of Philadelphia have impressed Wentz and even remind him of his own upbringing.

This past week, he appeared on 94 WIP-FM’s Morning Show with Angelo Cataldi and took some time to talk about his A01 Foundation, some upcoming events he’s planning and, of course, he and Cataldi found some time to talk a little Eagles football.

How could they not do so with his team off to an 8-1 start? Wentz talked about that hot start, but he was first asked how a young man from North Dakota is adjusting to the city of Philadelphia.

Here’s what QB1 had to say.

"I’ve always thought, since being here, you can just tell it’s kind of a blue-collar, hardworking mentality. It’s kind of wired that way, and that’s exactly how I’m wired. It’s exactly how I’ve grown up. I’m a blue-collar, hardworking kid who, by the grace of God, made it to this level.. I think it’s the perfect fit.. They’re so passionate about the game, and so am I. It’s pretty cool how this (his journey to Philly) all came together and to be playing in a city like this."

One of the most pleasant surprises about the 2017 season has been the leap Wentz has made from year one to year two. 2016’s 7-9 record was a wake-up call for a young quarterback who isn’t used to losing, and so far, there’s been no sophomore slump. Wentz and company are shining, and they’re determined to make sure that continues.

Wentz added his theory. Check this one out.

"The biggest thing is just the character makeup of the guys… We kind of learned a lot about ourselves. We learned, late in the year, how to win in some close ball games or take them down to the wire like that. So, you know, last year, in those close games, we struggled to find a way to win, and I think this year, we’re finding a way to do that.. For me, personally, everything’s just slowing down, and I’m kind of taking things to the next level mentally… Everyone’s kind of buying in and believing in each other… We’ve had a handful of injuries that have kind of been unfortunate… The attitude we’ve built has kind of been a ‘who cares’, next-man-up mentality.. They’re going to get the job done."

Wentz has been getting the job done all right. Try 23 touchdowns against just five interceptions in the Eagles’ first nine games, and he’s on pace to shatter team records for touchdown passes and yards passing if this continues, and with the way he’s developing, that isn’t an impossibility. One thing’s certain, and that’s the fact that he’s got an entire city and fan base behind him.
