Jay Ajayi, RB

Lately, we have been skeptical about Jay Ajayi’s role in the Eagles offense. When he was brought here from Miami via trade, everybody was under the assumption that he would receive at least 15 carries a game. It wasn’t until last Sunday when Ajayi finally received over 10 carries in a game. He finished out with 15 attempts for 78 yards.

Last week was surely an indication that Ajayi needs more carries and he needs them now. Clearly, he is the best runner in the Eagles backfield without a question. At this point, they need to ditch the heavy rotation and let Ajayi take over completely in the game. This week will be a great starting point for the Eagles to turn Ajayi into the workhorse back that they have been missing since LeSean McCoy.

This offense just needs to find a balance and some rhythm. With Foles under center, he should not be expected to throw the ball 40 times a game. Ajayi should and could very well get at least 20 carries this week if Doug Pederson commits to the run game. If that is the case, Ajayi should do very well against a beat-up Giants defense.
