LeGarrette Blount, RB

It’s been a strange season for LeGarrette Blount. Going into Week One, he was the feature back. After a couple bad week’s, he started to turn it up in the Eagles backfield. For the most part, everybody in Philly was pretty satisfied with Blount’s contributions out of the backfield. But the Eagles front office didn’t quite see that as the case. They went out an acquired a younger back with a lot more talent to offer in Jay Ajayi.

After seeing what Ajayi could offer, some would say that Blount’s short tenure in Philadelphia was not quite what they expected. After leading the NFL in rushing touchdowns (18) in 2016, Blount finished out this season with only two touchdowns. But his numbers do not define what he has done for the Eagles beyond the 2017 regular season.

Blount’s post-season experience outweighs many other factors that the other running backs have. When he was brought here to Philadelphia, he was expected to be the red zone specialist that he was with the New England Patriots. Unfortunately, things did not work out that way in 2017. But the year of 2018 is a whole different story.

Since the playoffs had begun, Blount has scored a rushing touchdown in both games. They also happened to be the first touchdowns that the offense scored in both games, too. Blount broke out his end zone sensing mentality just in time for when it matters most and it sure paid off. Although he only has 15 carries for 40 yards in the playoffs, his two touchdowns have really given the offense a kick start to their playoff success.
