LB Nathan Gerry, 5th Rd

Nathan Gerry was the at the bottom of the barrel when it came to linebacker depth. He started off the regular season on the practice squad and wasn’t called up until the Eagles were starting to get really thin at the linebacker position. Middle linebacker Jordan Hicks had to have his season cut short due to a ruptured Achilles, which made the Eagles decide to call Gerry up.

Although Gerry is an outside linebacker, it looked like the Eagles got very nervous with all of the sudden injuries that were occurring. Gerry was most likely not going to be anything more than a third-stringer on defense and a special teams guy, which makes sense.

After all, Gerry was just playing the safety position back in Nebraska a season ago. As he is still working on a transformation to the linebacker position, there really isn’t much to say about Gerry’s rookie season. The Eagles were fortunate enough to have Nigel Bradham and Mychal Kendricks balling out. Therefore, Gerry was never really called upon to go to work on the defense.

Stats: 10 GP, 5 TKL
