Torrey Smith, WR

Torrey Smith was one of two wide receivers that the Eagles decided to sign out of free agency last season along with Alshon Jeffery. The difference between the two though was that Smith signed on for three years while Alshon took a gamble on himself and signed a one-year deal. But after showing he could be a true number one receiver, the Eagles paid up for Jeffery’s services long term.

Unfortunately, Smith did not pan out as well Alshon and now the Eagles have a tough decision to make. He ended the season with 36 catches for 430 yards and a touchdown. He also led the Eagles in drops this past season, which was a really frustrating quality of his at times. Aside from his few big catches in the postseason, Smith was almost a non-factor a lot of the time.

We could make the argument to say that Smith stretched the field at times and opened up opportunities for others, but he didn’t issue much more value than Alshon or Agholor in that department. So will Smith’s low-quality production trump his locker room leadership? It very much could. So anyone who was asking for more Mack Hollins throughout the season just may get their wish for 2018.
