Ladies and gentlemen, she said yes! Philadelphia Eagles safety Rodney McLeod is getting married, and congratulations are in order.

In 2017, Philadelphia Eagles safety Rodney McLeod placed his team on his back, along with his teammates, and helped them all the way to a Lombardi Trophy on February 4th. Along the way, he picked up 54 total tackles, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, three interceptions, six pass deflections and two stuffs. It’s been his play on the field that’s helped Eagles fans get to know him, but over this past weekend, we were all reintroduced to an idea that we sometimes forget as writers and football fans.

Football is these guy’s job, but these superstars are normal people who lead normal lives just like us. McLeod, on Friday, made one of the most important decisions in his life, and from the outside looking in, it appears that he made a wise one. He’s getting married to the woman he’s loved since he was 19 years old. Her name is Erika Lee, and these two haven’t stopped smiling about their decision yet.

Take a look.

It’s funny how great things can, sometimes, start out awkwardly.

Mr. McLeod, with a huge grin, talked a little about how the two met in 2009, when both were just beginning the path of adulthood. “I thought she gave me the wrong (phone) number in college. I’m thinking she just gave me a false number because she didn’t want to talk to me. I saw her again, and I’m like, ‘That’s messed up. If you didn’t want to talk to me, you just could have told me.”

He’d learn in that conversation that Ms. Lee didn’t give him the wrong number at all. He just typed it in wrong when he keyed it into his phone.

McLeod draws up the perfect game plan.

Most of us are still celebrating the Eagles’ first Super Bowl. We all have had our own ways of doing so, whether that’s watching the game over and over or picking up every piece of memorabilia we can find. McLeod, following the victory, stopped by a jeweler in Philly, and spent some time drawing out the game plan.

“I’ve got to go out there and execute. I’m going to just say what’s in my heart. I know she’s going to be super-emotional. I’m just hoping it doesn’t rain!” Those were his words to Yahoo a couple of days before the big day.

He executed all right, posting the phrase “She said YES!! I’m excited to begin this journey with this beautiful woman. #bigrings” on his Instagram and Twitter account on Sunday night at about 8:40 PM EST.

We at ITI wish the future Mr, and Mrs. McLeod the best of luck.
