The third weekend in May was kicked off in Philly with the inaugural Philadelphia Eagles autism challenge.

Seeing successful people take time out of their schedule to help someone else out will never get old. Ladies and gentlemen, the Philadelphia Eagles have given their fans yet another reason to love them. This time, they didn’t put on football helmets. Some of them actually  strapped on bicycle helmets as they participated in a one-day bike ride and family-friendly 5K run/walk.

The cause? This was the inaugural Eagles autism challenge, spearheaded by the team’s Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie. The intent is to to assist in making generational advances in research and awareness and to, eventually, defeat an affliction that impacts one in every 15 children.

Philly finds success yet again.

Autism, a developmental disorder that impairs communication and social interaction, is incurable. There are over 200,000 known cases per calendar year. Though we, as a country, may never be able to defeat autism entirely, we’ve found out, over time, that treatment can help.

On Friday, May 18th, a party was held at Lincoln Financial Field. That was followed by 3,300 participants gathering the following Saturday at 7 AM to battle the rain and ride either 15 miles, 30 miles, or 50 miles. Others took the 5K run/walk. There were different paths, but every participant had the same goal in mind.

We at ITI have mentioned this once or twice, but we’ll say it again. Eagles fans are the most loyal and passionate fans on Planet Earth. Still, something about this team makes being a fan easy.

These Eagles are very likeable guys who we’d probably like if they were doing something else. This current crop of Philadelphia Eagles are very easy to cheer for. Seeing things like this make that very easy to say.
