For some of you younger readers who are checking this out, this may be news, but Peter King has been covering the Philadelphia Eagles and the rest of the NFL for as long as you’ve been alive.

Peter King is a legend. Period. To be honest, at this point in our lives, you can’t even be an NFL fan and mention Sports Illustrated without having King cross your mind. Many a Philadelphia Eagles fan have fired up the laptop or tablet and checked out his Monday Morning Quarterback Column for team news. SI launched MMQB in 2013, but, now, something’s changed.

SI will, now, carry on without the founder of what’s been one of their most popular columns. On May 21st, 2018, King said goodbye in his piece.

Wait. There’s a twist.

King, in a bit of a surprise, tickled the computer keys to thank many of the people that touched him throughout the course of his journey. One of those people was Eagles head coach Doug Pederson.

Take a look:

"Thank you, Doug Pederson. By sharing so much interesting X-and-O stuff from the playoffs last year, and doing it humbly. Pederson taught so many football nerds and casual football fans that, with hard work and imagination, all things are possible … even beating the great Belichick in the Super Bowl."

That’s good stuff.

We, now, move on.

Well, here we are. It’s time to enter a new era. For those of you who are worried, you shouldn’t be. MMQB appears to be in good hands going forward. You are all aware of the quality we’ve come to expect from Sports Illustrated. According to King, there’s a lot to be excited about going forward.

Here’s more from King:

"Thank you to those who have made The MMQB work…giving all of those people too little credit for what we have become, and what we will be going forward. I am supremely confident that those left to carry on the mission of distinctive and thoughtful football reporting will do so exceedingly well. I know a few of the projects they’re working on right now, and you’re going to be thrilled to experience them in the coming months. You know what else I’m proud of? A diverse staff that I would not trade for any staff in sports media."

We’re bookmarking the site as we speak. We can’t wait to see what comes next.
