Nick Foles turned down a starting gig to remain with Eagles, per report
Maybe Nick Foles is just happy being with the Eagles? Did you ever think of that?
Once upon a time (actually, it was closer to six years ago), the Philadelphia Eagles spent a third-round selection in 2012’s NFL Draft to select a quarterback out of Arizona by the name of Nick Foles. Since then, Foles has gone on to tie the record for touchdown passes in a single NFL game.
He’s also been traded for no reason whatsoever by a former Eagles coach who shall remain nameless to a team with a defensive-minded head coach, stunting his growth. He’s contemplated retirement before thinking better of it. He, this past season, returned to his roots and threw six touchdown passes during a playoff push that resulted in the first Super Bowl victory in Eagles history.
Now what?

Here’s what’s crazy. Foles has always been made aware that the Eagles are Carson Wentz’s team. He knew that before arriving. He knew that prior to and after winning the Super Bowl and being named the game’s MVP, and he knows that now.
Philly, knowing Foles’ value, stated, earlier this offseason, that they’d be willing to trade Foles but also stated their price would be high. We knew there were offers, but, recently, reports have surfaced about one that was very interesting.
According to NFL.com‘s Michael Silver, three sources familiar with the situation state the Cleveland Browns were interested in offering the Eagles the 35th-overall selection in the most recent draft for Foles’ services.
Silver reports Philly ran the idea by Foles, he declined, stating he’d rather remain with the Eagles, and team executives rejected the trade. That was shortly before the start of the league year which began on March 14th.

So, why was the offer rejected?
Cleveland’s offer wasn’t the first-round selection that Philly says they wanted, but it was close. Foles has been quoted as saying he wouldn’t mind having the opportunity to start again, but we’re also aware that he’s happy. This is a man who now appears to be at peace. This is a man who appears to have only found that peace as a member of the Eagles.

Maybe he enjoys the guys he plays with. Maybe being a starter isn’t the only thing that he sees as important.
The real answer to that question can only be answered by Nick Foles. Here’s what we do know. You’d be hard-pressed to find an Eagles fan that isn’t stoked about the idea of him still being around.
