Dez Bryant is still a free agent, and once again, Philadelphia Eagles fans prove that they’re some of the smartest fans in all of sports.

Ladies and gentlemen, NFL training camps are in full swing. We’ve just about reached the month of August, and former Dallas Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant still isn’t part of anyone’s roster. See? Philadelphia Eagles fans just always seem to get it.

Give us a few short moments to explain.

Let’s take a look back.

Remember the 2016 NFL season? The Cowboys were marching their way through their regular season schedule on their way to a 13-3 finish. All of their losses came courtesy of NFC East opponents. That is at least until the playoffs started.

Two regular season losses came at the hands of the New York Giants. The final loss of the regular season came at the hands of the Eagles in a game Dallas had no interest in winning. Somehow, it still felt like that team had no shot of winning in the playoffs.

Eagles fans knew it. Every other NFL fan base had the same idea. The only people who were lost on this were the Cowboys fans.

Let’s look at some more recent history.

Dez Bryant is the all-time leader in receiving touchdowns in Cowboys history. As hard as that may be to believe, it’s the truth. Bryant is a three-time Pro Bowler (2013, 2014, 2016). He led the league in touchdowns in 2014. Still, it’s never seemed as though he was in the ‘elite’ category.

Eagles fans also knew that. Most of the rest of the NFL agreed. The only people who disagreed were Cowboys fans.

Do you see where this is headed?

So, what are we saying exactly?

The Cowboys fan base ranks as one of the most delusional fan bases of all time. By now, life should have taught you that you can’t argue with certain people. Think about the last time you had anything critical to say about Beyonce to her fans or anyone who loves ‘America’s Team’.

It’s an exercise in futility.

After finishing the 2016 regular season with a 13-3 record, many fans were unimpressed. No matter what the Cowboys did that year, there just seemed to be signs. It never appeared as though they were that good.

As many expected, the Cowboys were eliminated from the postseason in their first playoff game against the Green Bay Packers. Just about everyone knew that one would turn out that way. There is, however, one fan base that expected a different result.

Anyone want to guess who that was? Almost immediately, everyone single one of them immediately began bellowing ‘You know we’re going to win it all next year’.

They just don’t seem to get it. Honestly they never seem to get it. It isn’t even fun to pick on them about it any more.

Let’s make long stories short.

So, here we are. At the time of this writing, three months and sixteen days have passed since Bryant was released by Dallas. Not one of the other 31 teams in the NFL have added him to their roster. No one sees him as elite. No one seems to be calling. It appears as though no one believes he’s capable of helping their team win.

No one who prides themselves on being a pro football fan is surprised. Well, no one except for one fan base.

It shouldn’t take long to figure out who that is.
