‘If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ says Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson. Oh and by the way, it may not be time to count Shelton Gibson out yet.

It may not be time to count out Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Shelton Gibson yet. Don’t look now, but apparently, he’s shining in practice. More on that in a second. First let’s get to resident comedian and Eagles head coach, Doug Pederson.

It’s been a nice six months for ‘The Birds’ and their head coach.

Let’s take a quick look at some recent history.

Pederson’s made good on bringing Philly its’ first Lombardi Trophy. He’s been given standing ovations during breakfast at NFL meetings. He’s helped raise money for autism and won his team the right to wear their home jerseys at other teams’ stadiums. Still, he isn’t satisfied.

The Birds enter 2018 for the first time as the defending Super Bowl Champions. Pederson’s telling his guys to ‘Embrace The Target’ as Philly’s sure to get everyone’s best shot in the coming season. The Eagles are the measuring stick now, and if you feel like there won’t be an added boost of adrenaline for any team facing them, you might want to think again.

As far as preparing, Coach is telling his guys ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’. Take a look:

Oh, by the way, anyone remember Shelton Gibson?

The 2017 season was also the rookie campaign for several Eagles the team decided to invest some time in developing. In the end, several guys would earn a ring, but they’d do so watching a lot of Philly’s Super Bowl run from the practice squad.

Count Shelton Gibson in that number.

There’s been some good news coming out of camp though. The light switch may be turning on. He’s apparently done a complete 180, and coaches are liking what they’re seeing. PhiladelphiaEagles.com dedicated a few keystrokes to the topic.

Here’s a few words from Gibson on the subject:

"It’s all about confidence,” Gibson said. “It was really tough last year. I would make a mistake and let it keep me down. I didn’t shake it. For sure, confidence is the big difference between Year 1 and Year 2. That and my work ethic. I just feel so much better about everything now."

The Eagles took the day off on Monday but are back to work as we turn the page from July to August. The regular season is right around the corner.
