1. Dallas Goedert is as good as advertised.

We’ve heard for the longest time now that Dallas Goedert practically lives in the end zone at practice. Fortunately, a night off for Ertz issued Geodert some stellar playing time as he started at tight end on Thursday, despite being a rookie. As expected, Goedert put on a show for the first time rocking an Eagles uniform.

The rookie registered four catches for 66-yards and a touchdown during his NFL debut. After just one game, the national media is beginning to look out for Goedert as the Eagles might’ve gotten a second-round steal on their hands to pair up with another top-five tight end in Zach Ertz.

2. Nate Sudfeld is good but inconsistent.

The Eagles were left without their first and second-string quarterbacks on Thursday, which forced them to start their former practice squad star, Nate Sudfeld. We’ve heard all throughout last season that Sudfeld has the talent to become a decent quarterback. Sudfeld clearly had the game one jitters as he threw an ugly interception during the first offensive drive of the game.

A mistake meant nothing to Sudfeld, though as he trotted back out onto the field and flashed some moves that might’ve been inspired by his buddy, Carson Wentz. Sudfeld wrapped up his night after two quarters completing 10 of his 14 passes for 140-yards, and two touchdowns. If it weren’t for two boneheaded mistakes that led to turnovers, Sudfeld would’ve had himself a night. Either way though, the Eagles are definitely not doomed if two of their quarterbacks go down in the regular season. For that, we feel pretty good.

3. Shelton Gibson is on the rise.

Last year, the Eagles drafted former West Virginia deep-threat, Shelton Gibson. From day one in camp, Gibson has struggled to not only find separation from the defender’s, but he also struggled just to catch the ball. His difficult times as a rookie landed him on the practice squad without another team reaching out to sign him. This lined up 2018 as a make-or-break season for the speedy receiver.

Gibson surely didn’t disappoint against Pittsburgh to start things off. Before the end of the second quarter, he soared down the field and hauled in a deep pass from Sudfeld for six. Gibson finished off the night with two receptions for 77-yards and a touchdown, which led the Eagles in receiving.
