DeSean Jackson could be a problem.

You want to know why Fitzpatrick offers a tougher matchup than Winston? Because Fitz immediately figured out how to connect with former Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson. Once Jackson joined the Buccaneers last season, everybody assumed that he was washed up since he had a slightly underwhelming season. But after his performance last week, it’s clear that Jackson and Winston do not have great on-field chemistry. Well, Fitzpatrick might’ve figured it out.

Jackson caught all five of his targets for 146-yards and two touchdowns. His longest score being 58-yards, which happens to be longer than all three of his touchdowns from a season ago. And in case you don’t remember, Jackson loves getting his revenge on the team that released him for no reason other than the fact that the head coach did not like his personality.

So the Eagles could put their primary focus on shutting down Jackson, right? Wrong. Mike Evans also had himself a big day with seven catches for 147-yards and a touchdown. Last week, the Eagles were up to the challenge with Julio Jones and… Nobody else, just Julio Jones. And he got his yards. While the Falcons struggled in the red zone, it was apparent that the Eagles only had to double Jones to come away with the win.

Now, they have a tough matchup against several weapons, not just one guy. And let’s be honest, Fitzpatrick has nothing to lose to these next few games. He is going to take every chance he can get to make a big play. So yes, the Eagles legitimately have a tougher matchup with a heated up Fitzpatrick, rather than the question mark that is Winston.
