Jordan Matthews, WR

The Eagles had decided to bring back an old face this week when they signed Jordan Matthews. While it is not the most attractive signing on paper, the Eagles needed to do something with the recent loss of Mike Wallace.

So, the Eagles front office decided to pick up a guy who is already familiar with the offense and has a relationship with the quarterback. Okay, not a bad idea. But there is one issue. Matthews’ talent is minimal. We all know the deal. He is not very valuable while playing outside of the slot, which is precisely where Nelson Agholor thrives.

Having Matthews in the slot means that Agholor gets shifted outside to where he is now a question mark in the passing game. So if Agholor cannot get anything going unlike he has the past few weeks, then Matthews better be the answer to the problem in the passing game. There’s no in-between conclusion with this move. It can either go really well or really bad. Here’s to hoping that Matthews catches everything and keeps everybody happy this Sunday.
