Rams safety defended the Eagles last week while trolling the Saints
The Philadelphia Eagles couldn’t defend themselves against the New Orleans Saints, but the Los Angeles Rams wanted to share some of the revenge.
When your team loses in the playoffs, it’s almost a blessing and a curse. It’s a curse for obvious reasons. Your team is finished for the year. It can sometimes be a blessing though because as a fan it allows you to watch the rest of the NFL Playoffs with an unbiased view, and remain stress-free. However, when a team that you absolutely despise is still in it, it’s hard not to root for them to lose, that’s for sure.
Philadelphia Eagles fans all around didn’t have much to hate on until they were knocked out of the divisional round of the playoffs. Their NFC East division rival the Dallas Cowboys were already excluded from the NFC Championship. We all assumed that with a loss, Eagles fans could move forward without spending their Sunday hoping for another team to lose. The New Orleans Saints changed that stance though.
After an entire year of smack talking, and beating the Eagles twice, and trolling the Eagles with their celebrations, the NFC Championship turned into a Saints hate week for Eagles fans all over. Fortunately for those who were wishing for it, the Saints ended up taking a loss at home. Although there’s a ton of controversy over a missed pass interference call, the Los Angeles Rams, not the Saints will be representing the NFC in the Super Bowl. Better luck next year, sports.
That wasn’t the best part though
Eagles fans were happy enough that the Rams were able to knock out the Saints, but that’s not even the best part about last Sunday. Los Angeles Rams safety John Johnson decided to let everybody in on a little secret. For those who don’t know who Johnson is, he’s the guy that picked off Drew Brees in overtime in order for the Rams to get the ball and score with a field goal.
Anyway, Johnson’s celebration after snagging the interception was a “Choppa Style” motion, which apparently originated from the Saints. Why did Johnson decide to troll the Saints? Well, according to LA Times Sam Farmer, he did it because he has friends within the Eagles locker room, and he didn’t like how the Saints decided to celebrate after defeating the Eagles.
While the Saints had every right to troll the Eagles two weeks ago, it’s still cool to know that Johnson decided to one-up the Saints trolling in defense of the Eagles. The Eagles and the Rams may not be allies for 2019 and beyond, but there may be a lot more Philly fans rooting for the Rams next week in Super Bowl LIII.
