Philadelphia Eagles chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie opens up to the fans as ‘The Birds prepare to move on from the playoffs to the offseason.

For many of us, the first time we heard the term ‘football is a business’ was in some football circle. To some of these owners and players, it is all about the money, but to others, Philadelphia Eagles chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie for instance, it’s so much more than that.

There may not be a bigger Eagles fan than Jeffrey Lurie.

We’re all perusing the web looking for everything we can find on our beloved ‘Birds’. This one was easy to find. As Philly fans prepare to turn the page from playoff runs to all things draft and free agency related, the boss took some time to address the fans.

This one was published on the official team site. Check it out when you can, but here’s some of the highlights:

"The 2018 season marks my 25 years of ownership with the Philadelphia Eagles… It has been an incredible journey with some life-changing moments along the way – both on and off the field. Through it all – the highs and lows – we stuck together, as we are family."

That doesn’t exactly sound like someone who’s just in it for the money. Does it? Here’s more:

"We have captured eight NFC East titles and advanced to six NFC Championship Games. We pushed through to the Super Bowl in 2004. And, in 2017, we accomplished our ultimate goal of bringing the first Lombardi Trophy to Philadelphia… The special bond between you, our players, and this organization is what pushes us to win more Championships in the future. I can’t wait to do it all over again!"

Well said Mr. Lurie. Well said. With all that he’s done for the organization and his outside ventures like his Go Green program and his Eagles Autism Challenge we can all say confidently that the Eagles organization and Eagles fans are lucky to have Lurie in charge.
