17 Former Eagles show up on Alliance of American Football rosters
Christian Hackenberg (Memphis Express)
The deck was stacked against Hackenberg in training camp last season. We knew Carson Wentz and Nick Foles weren’t going anywhere, and it appears that ‘The Birds’ have always been loyal to Nate Sudfeld. With that being said, it was hard to imagine any scenario where this young man made the roster, and of course, he didn’t.
‘Hack’ gets another chance in Memphis to make good on the second-round selection the New York Jets used on him in 2016.
Toby Weathersby (Memphis Express)
We know one of the guys who will be charged with keeping Hackenberg upright and healthy as well. That job now belongs to offensive tackle Toby Weathersby. After being signed by the Eagles as an undrafted free agent on May 11th of 2018, he was placed on injured reserve on the first day of the following September. Philly officially released him on October 2nd of 2018.
Aaron Murray (Atlanta Legends)
When the story of Aaron Murray is told, it will feature a chapter about the former Georgia Bulldogs quarterback landing in Philly as a member of their practice squad before his dream to play professional football led him back to Georgia. Beginning this February, he’ll suit up as the starting signal caller for the Atlanta Legends.
