Grady Jarrett, defensive tackle

Rumors of Jarrett began to heat up. Then, they seemingly cooled just as quickly. The idea of Jarrett lining up to Fletcher Cox is very attractive, but as far as we know, it, now, appears more likely that he’ll re-sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Dee Ford, outside linebacker

Though Ford played outside linebacker in the Kansas City Chiefs‘ 3-4, it seems more likely that he’ll play defensive end in someone else’s 4-3 scheme. There’s been no talk of the Eagles signing Ford, and some believe he’s a candidate to receive the franchise tag in K.C.

Earl Thomas, safety

Here’s a history lesson. Back in 2010, the Eagles were looking for a replacement for Brian Dawkins. They traded up in the draft. Many thought that was so they could take Earl Thomas. They instead took Brandon Graham, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Here we are. It’s 2019’s offseason, and it appears that Philly may pass on Thomas again. Philly needs help at safety, but Malcolm Jenkins isn’t going anywhere. ‘The Birds’ also have Rodney McLeod, and though he’s coming off of an injury, he’s signed for two more seasons.

He’s due $9.9 million in 2019 and over $10.9 million in 2020. Investing a large deal in another safety seems unlikely.

Frank Clark, defensive end

Frank Clark isn’t one of those sexy names, but he’s one of the NFL’s best at the defensive end position. Again, the thoughts of the writer of this story don’t necessarily reflect the thoughts of the rest of the ITI staff, but I’d rather have Frank Clark on the Eagles’ roster than Jadeveon Clowney.

Clark has the motor that Clowney seems to lack, and he’s racked up 32 sacks and 66 QB hits over the past three seasons. Think about that for a second. Philly doesn’t seem to be chasing Clark, but maybe they should start.

Landon Collins, safety

Recent history suggests that the Eagles have, typically, had the New York Giants‘ number, but that has nothing to do with how Landon Collins has performed.

It seems as though his efforts to get a long-term deal from the Giants have led to frustration, but some rumor mills are stating he might be a candidate for the franchise tag. Let’s hope not. If you’re an Eagles fan, you’re well aware that this guy needs to go away.
