54. . WR. (1996-98). Irving Fryar. 6. player

Irving Fryar was just the second wide receiver — after Dave Parks in 1964 — to be selected first overall in the NFL Draft. Fryar’s selection came 20 years after Parks, as the New England Patriots used their top pick on the Nebraska Cornhuskers’ pass catcher.

He then spent nine seasons with the Patriots, spending time as a wideout and punt returner for them. He appeared in one Super Bowl with the Patriots and actually scored their only touchdown in a lopsided 46-10 loss at the hands of the Chicago Bears.

Fryar later joined the Miami Dolphins, where he played the 1993 through 1995 seasons. Then at age 34, he signed with his third NFL team — the Eagles. While with them, Fryar put together two of his best seasons as a pro.

In 1996, he had 88 receptions for 1,195 yards, as well as 11 touchdowns. He made his second Pro Bowl appearance — which was also his first since his second season in the NFL in 1985. Fryar followed that up with another Pro Bowl campaign, which included 1,316 yards receiving.

During his long career, Fryar seemed to get better as he aged. His first 1,000-yard season came in 1991 when he was 29 years old. He accomplished this feat four more times — twice with the Eagles. He also made four Pro Bowls after 30, including his two with Philadelphia.

He played until 38 years of age, which included two final seasons with the Washington Redskins. By then, he had finally shown signs of aging, but still managed 548 yards and five touchdowns in his final year.
