Philadelphia Eagles: 15 best free agent acquisitions of all-time
By Randy Gurzi
A former standout for the Buffalo Bills, linebacker Nigel Bradham doesn’t get nearly enough credit for how good of a player he really is. The current starter at weakside linebacker for Philadelphia, Bradham spent his first four seasons in the league in Western New York, where he racked up 261 career tackles.
He then entered free agency in 2016 and claimed he wanted to stay with the team that drafted him — and finish his career there. Bradham even wanted to sign a one-year deal to prove he deserved a long-term contract, but Buffalo had other plans.
This led to Bradham testing the waters in free agency and several teams were interested in his services. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Cleveland Browns got into the mix, but Bradham ultimately chose Philadelphia over the other destinations. Bradham was given a modest two-year, $7 million deal with the Eagles. He proved to be a steal at that price.
He had 186 tackles in his first two seasons, as well as three sacks. Bradham was also a part of the Eagles first-ever Super Bowl win. He was credited with seven tackles in that win over the New England Patriots.
Following their title run, Bradham and the Eagles came to terms on a new contract. This time, he finally got that long-term deal he had desired when leaving the Bills, as Philadelphia and the linebacker agreed to a five-year, $50 million deal — $14 million of which is fully guaranteed.
